When I was a high school student in New York, every year I would go upstate, to go camping. I always loved those trips, getting to leave the hustle and bustle of Manhattan – and the country up there is so beautiful.
Before each trip I remember stocking up on outdoor gear from Orvis, an American heritage outdoor brand that has been around since the late 1800s.
The UK flagship store for Orvis is located a stones throw away from Piccadilly Circus, and has a great selection of outdoor gear – everything from dog beds to Barbour jackets.
My first few attempts were quite messy, but I soon got the hang of it, and had so much fun!
Orvis have 19 stores in the uk, and they offer the chance for a free fly fishing lesson. Their stores are tactically located, so you can really put your new skills to the test! If you attend a free class you also get a nice discount on all the equipment too, so you can really perfect your skills.
The idea of catching my own food really appeals to me, and I had so much fun! It’s surprisingly addictive, and a great way to get out into nature – I can totally see how it’s become a favourite American past-time.
Make sure you get yourself on one of the courses soon – it’s a great time!
Orvis London is located at 11B Regent Street St. James’s, London, SW1Y 4LR.
Many thanks for Orvis for inviting me – all opinions are fully my own.
