British Street Food Awards (& A Giveaway!)

I absolutely love street food – always have. I’m lucky enough to live and work near some of the best places in London for street food, and I firmly believe that the street food scene in the UK is second to none.

So I am unbelievably excited to be attending the British Street Food Awards at the O2 on the 5th and 6th of December! After four regional heats, the best street food traders will be competing in a massive cook-off. My type of competition!

It’s going to be a great day out – with live music (including Street Food – The Musical), crazy golf, beer, and food tasting galore! To top it off, Channel 5’s The Gadget Show will be there, setting up a time-traveling food stall showcasing the future of street food.

    • Thanks Rachel! I am so excited – looks like its going to be such a fun weekend! xx

  • Oooh sounds amazing, I love going to street food festivals, you’ll have a blast at the awards! x

  • Leona S Fisher

I like a good burger! Tasty and easy to eat on the go!

    • Me too, Leona! I had an amazing one at Honest Burgers earlier this week. Thanks for commenting! x

  • Emma Ellams

I love paella! I know some people think it’s a bit risky with seafood but I’ve never had a problem and it always tastes amazing! This festival sounds right up my street 🙂

  • Nima Akbari

The best street food I’ve eaten was a massive kebab with potato chips and a salad wrap in Greece. The best part was that it was only €1.50!

I love the warm chestnuts you can buy.

    • Ooh these sounds lovely, Claire – I haven’t tried these, but really should! xx

  • melissa mannion

Have yet to be let down by any of the KERB traders, particularly big fan of Kimchinary’s Korean burritos 😀

    • I LOVE the korean burritos! I actually haven’t tried KERB yet, I really need to get on it! xx

  • Claudia Abdallah

The best street food I’ve eaten was Currywurst from a pop-up place in Berlin! I had never tried it before but it turned out to be a very pleasant surprise (it ended up being my go to meal for the rest of the trip)! Would definitely recommend 🙂

    • Ooh that sounds lovely, Claudia – definitely something I need to have again in Berlin! :xx

  • Buger Bear! The master griller Burger Bear Tom is the master of not just serving great burgers; it’s the disco party vibes meets ‘cooking theatre’ that is normally the reserve of restaurants. Killer streetfood indeed:

My other favourite streetfood is Aji Ceviche, I used to go every day it was on in Whitecross Street market when I worked nearby. Fresh ceviche (being effectively citrus-cooked raw fish) is extremely rare to find as a streetfood staple due to logistics. However, the ‘leche de tigre’ marinated and temperature controlled sea bream and salmon was fresh and zingy. Combined with the giant Peruvian corn and crunchy corn it was super addictive!

    • Ooh I haven’t tried burger bear but disco party meets cooking theatre sounds RIGHT up my street! I love ceviche, I definitely need to check this out! Thanks for the recommendations, Mark!

  • Anya

Gourmet Goat at Borough Market. Their wraps are worth travelling across London & queuing for!

    • Ooh I have actually tried it – its SO good! I also love the Ethiopian stand just opposite – their curries are insanely good! x

  • Pat

My favourite is definitely Bangwok’s beef cooked long time, if that’s not on their menu I love the fresh flavours in their pad thai and its good to know there’s no artificial flavours added. Bangwok’s chef, Dong, is my son-in-law so maybe I’m biased

  • Sheri Darby

    Samosas – my ultimate favourites
