Hello! Welcome to my little corner of the internet – I’m Erin Niimi Longhurst, a half British, half Japanese New Yorker currently working in London as a Communications and Social Media manager on behalf of charities. I’m also the author of Japonisme, published by HarperCollins, a Japanese-inspired guide to living a happier, more fulfilled life.
Japonisme explores the Japanese art of finding contentment and includes practical tips and tricks, focusing on topics like ikigai, kintsugi, as well as Ikebana (flower arranging), food, Shinrinyoku (forest bathing) and more.
I started my blog in 2014, as a way to keep my friends and family around the world updated on what I’m up to.
I absolutely love writing and photography, as well as trying new types of food, restaurants, beauty, and travelling, so blogging seemed to be the way to go!
Since then, I’ve been foraging for my own food, done things I’d never thought I would do, like go fly fishing, having food made for me by the winner of the Great British Bake Off, or being asked to be on Jamie Oliver’s show, and it’s been a total blast. In 2017 I also realised my dream of going to culinary school through evening classes at Leiths, and am now working on a few exciting food projects. I hope you’ll join me!
Island Bell has been featured in Blogosphere Magazine, and I have a lifestyle book coming out in Spring 2018.
